Over the years, the Arlington Museum of Art has been a museum of and for our community. Because we are unconstrained by a large permanent collection, we have the unique opportunity to fill our entire space with exhibits that change constantly. Every 3-4 months, we bring something new to Arlington. We work with artists, private collectors, museums, galleries, and experts from across town and around the world to exhibit all genres of art, offer educational opportunities, and create unique experiences for our guests while also being mindful of our responsibility to reflect the beautiful diversity and varied interests of our community.
The only way to reach around the world is to be lifted up by others. How fortunate we are to have so many friends supporting our efforts to do this good and vital work through art! Now that the AMA has an opportunity to reimagine over 42,000 square feet within the Arlington Entertainment District, we are excited to work with you and our many other partners, supporters, and collaborators to envision a place that will make our community proud. Outside the Lines: Reimagine the AMA
By unanimous vote of the Arlington City Council on April 11, 2023, the Arlington Museum of Art officially has a new home: the Arlington Entertainment District! By late March 2024, the New AMA will offer approximately 42,000 square feet of exhibition space inside the Arlington Expo Center. That’s eight times the size (and creative potential) of our current location! The new AMA footprint will allow us to blend traditional, immersive, interactive, and evolving visual art forms in ways that will inspire, entertain, engage, and reflect our community and our world.
Our founders believed in art as a legacy gift to our community, and we’re so excited for all the ways the New AMA fulfills that vision! Thanks to our partnership with the City of Arlington, we’re being built on a platform for success. Still, there are many exciting ways for individual donors, collaborators, and partners to help our community realize the lasting legacy of a world-class art museum in Arlington. Learn how you can get involved.
