FAQs

Our goal is to provide all of our visitors an enjoyable museum experience. Check out our FAQs for guidelines and information about our amenities including accessibility services, gift shop hours, camera and stroller policies, and more. If you have any questions, please contact us at 817-275-4600 or info@arlingtonmuseum.org.

The AMA is committed to offering inclusive, meaningful experiences for all. To assist our guests, there are handicap parking spaces near our front door. All of our exhibition spaces are on the main level of the building, and all restrooms are handicap accessible. To further help you plan your visit, please feel free to contact us at 817-275-4600.

Kids are welcome at the AMA, but please remember that children 15 and under must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times during their visit. For our younger visitors, we request that their guardian inform the children on proper ways to interact with the art. This means no touching, keeping a safe distance, and speaking at a low volume in the galleries. If these policies are not followed, discretion is at the hands of AMA staff on duty.

Buses and private vehicles may pick-up and drop-off guests in the loading area adjacent to our front door, which is located on the south side of the building. Please do not leave vehicles unattended as they will be towed.

Please turn your cell phones to silent mode while in the museum to help ensure an enjoyable experience for all. When accessing our self-guided tour via your smartphone, please be courteous to others and bring your own earphones.

Help us protect the artwork for future visitors! Please don’t touch the artwork or cases and stand about 12 inches away while viewing it. If there are any interactive elements in our exhibits, they will be clearly labeled to encourage you to touch.

Food and drinks, including water bottles and baby bottles, cannot be consumed inside any of our exhibition spaces.

Our gift shop is open during our regular hours to all museum visitors.

Exposure to infectious diseases such as Covid is an inherent risk in any area where people assemble. By visiting us, you acknowledge that the museum assumes no risk and cannot guarantee you will not be exposed to Covid or any other infectious disease. In accordance with current CDC guidelines, the AMA does not require visitors to wear masks. We will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and will update our health and safety measures as needed. If you’re feeling sick or have any sign of a respiratory illness, please stay home, get well, and visit us another time.

The AMA is located in the Arlington Entertainment District, which has an abundance of privately-owned and City-managed parking lots. The closest City lot to the AMA is just behind (to the west of) the museum and is accessible from Ballpark Way. There is a $10 fee to park in this lot.

Handicap parking is available on the south side of the building near the entrance.

The Arlington Museum of Art is located in the Arlington Entertainment District, which offers a wide range of experiences for the whole family to enjoy. If you’re visiting us from out of town, make your trip planning easier by first visiting the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau for information about nearby hotels, restaurants, attractions, transportation options, vacation packages, and more. We also recommend you visit the Downtown Arlington interactive directory to discover more of Arlington’s arts, music, and cultural attractions as well as uniquely-local restaurants, coffee shops and pubs.

No weapons are permitted with the exception of those carried by law enforcement officers. No tobacco products or electronic cigarettes are allowed in the museum.

Restrooms with wheelchair-accessible stalls are located in the main hallway of the Arlington Expo Center.

Bench seating is available in all of our galleries.

Bring your smart device plus headphones or earbuds to make the most of your visit to the AMA! When you arrive, you can scan QR codes in our galleries to access bonus content.

Registered service animals are welcome in our building, but please leave emotional support animals and other pets at home.

Because there is no average museum-goer, there’s no way to predict how long it will take you to view each exhibition. Our hope is that you will discover commonalities within and between exhibitions by taking your time, reading every narrative, and taking in the details of every piece. While you are standing or sitting within each exhibit, we also encourage you to view the bonus content in our Self-Guided Tour (see above).
