Catherine WBetween school, work, and wedding planning, Catherine Westerlage is busy! In addition to her role as Special Projects Coordinator at the AMA, she’s nearing the finish line on her BBA in Marketing at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Catherine sees her role at the museum as a beautiful blend of her passion for community service with her career goals. We asked her to tell you a little more about herself:

Arlington Museum of Art:  What do you love most about the work you do at the AMA?

Catherine:  I love my job here at the Arlington Museum of Art for many reasons! One of my favorite things about it is working in the town I’ve grown up in my whole life. It’s such a special way to deepen my roots. Also, I love nonprofit work as a whole. The AMA gives me a sense of purpose and allows me to feel as though I’m making a difference. Aside from those things, I work with the best people. When I think of a dream team, I think of everyone here.

AMA:  When you travel, what kinds of experiences or destinations do you seek out?

CW:  I’m really not much of an “activity” traveler. When I’m planning a trip, I’m simple, I like to lay around on a beach and eat good food. Although, I am always up for trying new things!

Catherine W collageAMA:  Outside of your work, what is one of your personal passions?

CW:  Outside of work there is nothing I love more than spending time with my fiancé, my long-haired dachshund, Hogan, and my family. You can also find me in the kitchen— I love to cook! I also love reading and playing golf.

AMA:  When you’re out for drinks in Arlington, what is your favorite cocktail or hot beverage and where is your favorite spot to order it?

CW:  My favorite spot to get a drink has to be Tipsy Oak. I can’t pick a favorite drink because I try to have something new each time I go! If you had to twist my arm, I love the coffee cocktails at brunch.

AMA:  What’s your Texas Rangers walk-on song?

CW:  Though I am an Arlington girl through and through, I have been raised to be a devoted Astros fan. Sorry! So, my song would have to be Queen’s “We are the Champions,” ha-ha!

  1. Catherine, so excited for you. Congratulations! I might pop in the “back room” when I visit sometime and say, “hi.”
