Arlington, TX – The Arlington Museum of Art announces today its upcoming exhibition, Quaintrelle by Portland-based artist, Eugenia Pardue. Pardue’s signature style features monochromatic hand sculpted paint to create decorative and architectural motifs. The exhibit has been made possible by The Ford Family Foundation Award and the Oregon Commission on the Arts.

“As we continue to cope with the devastation wrought by COVID-19, the simplistic beauty of Pardue’s art feels refreshing. We hope that by sharing these works with our community, we can provide a sense of renewed hope and peace during this holiday season” says Arlington Museum of Art President and CEO, Chris Hightower.

In Pardue’s 25 year career as a professional artist, her work has been shown internationally and collected by numerous corporations and individuals alike. In 2012 she was awarded “Grand Prize” in the Center on Contemporary Art Northwest Annual in Seattle, WA, an exhibition of comprehensive survey of the top tier of Northwest Artists. She has been commissioned for works by the Presidential Suite in the Nines Hotel, Portland OR, Tiffany’s & Co., and The Ritz-Carlton Tyson Center in Washington DC. Inspired by antique floral prints, toile painting, tapestries, and the world of fashion, Pardue’s work evokes the majesty of nature and acts as a metaphor for the human condition.

The definition of quaintrelle is a woman who emphasizes a life of passion, expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and cultivation of life’s pleasures. Eugenia tells us why she chose this term as the title of her exhibit, “to be quaintrelle means to be truly authentic. It is a way of living with ease and grace. To be curious, happy and free. To look at mistakes as opportunities. It is living up to what you love and believe. It is a cultivation of personal devotion and reverence. To have profound respect for loving who you are. It is a journey of living a life of authenticity.”

In addition to Quaintrelle, the AMA will also host Oblivious Sensation by San Antonio-based artist, Christopher Rabb in its Rooftop Gallery. Rabb’s bright, abstract, graphic work will act as a bold contrast to the feminine softness seen in Pardue’s work. The bold combination of these unique artistic styles will offer something for everyone. The exhibits will run from December 4, 2021 – February 27, 2022.
