Arlington, TX (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – The Arlington Museum of Art is partnering with confectionary artists from throughout the North Texas region to present the sixth annual Eat Your Art Out. The festive and delicious event takes place from 7:00-10:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Tickets and more information for Eat Your Art Out can be found at arlingtonmuseum.org/eyao
This year, the event is part of the museum’s debut of its new location in the Arlington Entertainment District.
“The Arlington Museum of Art hosts Eat Your Art Out as an opportunity for North Texans to support the arts while tasting some of the best culinary art in our region,” said Chris Hightower, AMA President and CEO. “This year, it also provides a unique way for art lovers to experience the all new Arlington Museum of Art, which opened just a couple of weeks ago inside a completely reimagined space in the Entertainment District.”
For over 30 years, the museum was a cultural destination in downtown Arlington, but it began experiencing growing pains about a decade ago. Desiring a larger space that could accommodate a greater variety of traditional, immersive, interactive, and next gen art experiences, the AMA took a big next step in early 2024 by moving into the Esports Stadium and Expo Center at 1200 Ballpark Way. The Expo Center, which is owned by the City of Arlington, is located next to the future National Medal of Honor Museum (opening in 2025).
When the Arlington Museum of Art opened to the public on March 30, it debuted its galleries with three unique art exhibitions that showcase the museum’s stature on the world art stage as well as its commitment to local and emerging artists:
- Pompeii: The Immortal City in the Traditional Gallery
- One Point Five Degrees, an AMA collaboration with Fort Worth-based artist Adam Fung and Canadian artist Sabrina Ratté, in the Immersive Galleries
- The 34th annual Youth Art Month show in the Community Gallery
Attendees of Eat Your Art Out will have the opportunity to experience these three exhibitions, plus works by more than a dozen confectionery artists. Participating bakeries include Emerald Door Bakery (Arlington), Enchanted Cottage Bake Shop (Fort Worth), Cookie Society (Frisco), and Specialty Cakes by Amanda (Watauga). Student bakers from the Arlington Independent School District Bistro @ CTC will represent the district’s culinary program.
In addition to generous, sweet tooth-satisfying sampling, attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine, and a champagne toast while participating in a silent auction.
As its largest fundraiser of the year, Eat Your Art Out helps the Arlington Museum of Art present world-class special exhibitions and keep the new Community Gallery free and accessible to all. Proceeds from the event also provide supplies for the AMA Education Center, and in particular its Summer Art Camp, which welcomes hundreds of at-risk and highly talented youth who attend on scholarships provided in partnership with Arlington ISD.
