THE ART OF CREATIVITY: AN INTERVIEW WITH PAUL ROGERS, NEXM CREATIVE MEDIA

ABOUT MY ONE MINUTE DOCUMENTARY
by Katie Robb

We all know the saying, “a house is not a home without…” (insert whichever word you’d like here. Dog, family, sticky countertops… they all work.) Here at the AMA, our house wouldn’t be a home without two main things: the art that we fill our walls with, and the people who come to see it.

The creativity and passion from the art oozes into the patrons that walk in our front door and leaves a lasting effect. It then inspires creative conversations and builds a community of art-lovers that get to share their passions.

In 2020 Paul Rogers of Fort Worth saw an opportunity to build something creative where he could foster all forms of art; thus, Nexm Creative Media was born.

As the owner and founder of Nexm, Rogers houses creators, innovators, and businesses. Through his agency, he has worked with podcasters, voice actors, chefs, doctors and musicians, just to name a few.

He provides top visual and audio quality, as well as contributing his love of creativity to each person he works with. He could talk about innovative ideas with his clients for hours, and together they come up with out of the box ways to express and showcase their talents.

While the Nexm studios are visually stunning themselves, that alone is not what makes this place a home. It’s the ideas and creation that take place in that building that make Nexm a true home. A home to independent thinkers, creators, and visionaries.

It’s important to never stop creating. As Rogers puts it, creating “is food for the soul.”

About AMA+UTA CreateCollab

Throughout the Spring 2023 semester, the Arlington Museum of Art is partnering with The University of Texas at Arlington and a senior-level digital storytelling class to explore a wide variety of contemporary themes inspired by the museum’s mission, values, and exhibitions.

Class projects include photo essays, one-minute documentaries, and one-minute podcasts about themes as broad as sword fighting with light sabers, fulfilling family legacies, every day heroes, and modern metalsmithing.

Associate Professor of Communication Erika Pribanic-Smith, who teaches the class, values opportunities to bring real-world experiences to her students.

“My goal is to give my students real-world experience in all of my classes, creating real stories using real sources,” said Dr. Pribanic-Smith. “Creating stories that will be published for the public to see, not just submitted for a grade, gives students extra incentive to put forth their best effort. Furthermore, working with professionals gives the students another layer of feedback to re-enforce what they’re learning in the classroom. I prefer to work with organizations like the Arlington Museum of Art who will benefit in some way from the students’ content so that we are providing a service to the community.”
