Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, the Arlington Museum of Art, and doing good through art

Through a generous gift made during the Board’s August meeting, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation became the presenting sponsor of A Knight’s Tale, the next major art exhibition at the Arlington Museum of Art. The Foundation’s support also extends to the museum’s newly-launched and completely reimagined website.

“Thanks to the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation,” said Chris Hightower, President and CEO of the Arlington Museum of Art, “the AMA will host a renowned art exhibition that has never before traveled to North Texas. A Knight’s Tale will not only attract visitors from around the globe but provide a creative springboard for educational programming that serves our community.”

A Knight’s Tale, which is a stunning homage to the world of the Medieval and Renaissance knight, opens at the Arlington Museum of Art on October 22, 2022 and runs through February 12, 2023.

The AMA consistently receives rave reviews for presenting compelling and diverse exhibitions that attract visitors from all over the world. Now the AMA has a robust website to serve them, with features that are tailor-made for museum guests, members, media, supporters, and community partners.

“Thanks to the support of the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, the new AMA website is vibrant, creative, and engaging, with features like a new gift shop and a greatly improved customer experience,” said Hightower. “It’s also a platform for great storytelling, where visitors can learn more about the artists and art they see in our galleries as well as the people who make up our community.”

Cumulative, Strategic Planning

According to Carolyn Mentesana, Executive Director of the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, this grant to the Arlington Museum of Art should be understood through both short- and long-term lenses.

“Just look at what the Arlington Museum of Art has been doing over the last several years,” said Mentesana. “They are proving themselves to be a force in the art world. Their body of work is clearly relevant, sustainable, and shows that the AMA is a powerful arts destination for Arlington and North Texas. The Foundation’s Board wants to encourage the cumulative effect of this kind of strategic planning.”

Strong Capabilities, Growing Momentum

In recent years, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has been presenting supporter for incredibly diverse exhibitions at the AMA including Keith Haring: Against All Odds (2019), 30 Americans (2021), and Disney Art from Private Collections (2022). ATF also helped AMA present Toulouse-Lautrec and the Post-Impressionists in 2015 and in the same year supported the kick-off the Star of Texas public art project, which was overseen by the museum.

The Foundation’s recent gift to the Arlington Museum of Art in support of A Knight’s Tale and the museum’s website signals confidence in the museum’s capabilities to accelerate its successes by providing necessary tools: exhibitions befitting a dynamic visitor destination like Arlington, Texas and a website that provides state-of-the-art functionality, customer service, and compelling storytelling.

“At the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, we strive to work with non-profit organizations that, with encouragement, will come along beside us and do the work,” said Mentesana. “When you look at the body of work at the Arlington Museum of Art, particularly over the last 3-5 years, you simply can’t argue with the capabilities.”

Ready for What’s Next

Investing in the arts is integral to the work of the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation. Its mission is to contribute to a thriving Arlington by supporting the causes which benefit our citizens and enhance the natural surroundings and lifestyle of our city.

“Our belief is that the best is yet to come for the Arlington Museum of Art,” said Mentesana. “They have solid plans and reasonable, achievable goals for the future.”
