AMA logo with wings for blog

Ciao, Grüezi and Bonjour ! Over the last two weeks, we’ve toured some of the most magnificent collections, museums, galleries, and sites in Italy, as well as Basel, Switzerland and Paris, France. From the ruins of Pompeii to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Basel, we’ve been struck by the all-encompassing nature of every space. The art isn’t just displayed on a wall. The art IS the wall—and the ceiling and the floor—which means when you visit venues like these, you are stepping inside the art. “Awestruck” has been our word of the week.

See below for a photogallery from our trip.

This same spirit of discovery is what we seek to inspire when we move to our new location in the Arlington Entertainment District. We don’t just want you to see great art (which you will!) We want to create opportunities for you to experience art that surrounds and engages your senses as well as your imagination.

Every museologist, curator, and colleague we’ve met has been extremely enthusiastic about the Arlington Museum of Art and our expanding capacity to present large-scale, special exhibits that incorporate traditional, immersive, and interactive art. We are too!

On behalf of the entire AMA team, we are so excited to show you what’s coming to the New AMA next!  Stay tuned…

P.S. After visiting the Pompeii site, we can hardly wait to kick it all off with Pompeii: The Immortal City, opening at the New AMA on March 30, 2024.
