Arlington, TX – The Arlington Museum of Art proudly announces its summer show exhibit featuring 54 pieces from American icon Keith Haring. The exhibit, Keith Haring: Against All Odds will be on display from June 21, 2019 through September 15, 2019.

Famed for his activism and close relationship with the public, Haring’s willingness to defy expectations of art critics and societal expectations allowed him to make a name for himself as an artist of a new age. Haring (1958-1990) was known for his controversial and message-driven public, street and graffiti art, using the subways of New York City as his canvas. Contrasting clean, bold lines with dynamic and moving figures, Haring’s pieces take on a life of their own. Haring’s unique and graphic style became a staple in New Yorkers’ lives in the early 1980s. His easily recognizable style led to his participation in international exhibitions, with his first solo show taking place in 1981 in New York City.

Keith Haring: Against All Odds features 54 pieces of Haring’s show-stopping work, including a breathtaking fifteen-by-fifteen piece. We are excited to display Haring’s bold pieces and host events such as workshops and lectures to give our visitors an interactive learning experience.

Chris Hightower, Executive Director, said, “Haring’s work focuses on the primacy of the line. The content of his work ranges from familiar American pop culture to activism, so there is truly something for everyone in his work. Furthermore, that is exactly what he intended – for the public at large to have access to, to enjoy and to be challenged by his work.”

The exhibit was curated by the Rubell Family Collection in Miami, Florida. For more information, visit ArlingtonMuseum.org. Admission tickets may be purchased at the door.
