Attending lectures, programs, and other events at the Arlington Museum of Art is a great way to expand your intellectual and artistic horizons, meet like-minded art lovers, and nurture your creative spirit. It’s also really fun!

Matt RandolphAMA Director of Engagement Matt Randolph is a big believer in the power of bringing people together through art. With the opening of José Guadalupe Posada: Legendary Printmaker of Mexico just around the corner, Matt invites you to experience a variety of events and programs inspired by the exhibition. We caught up with Matt recently and asked him to tell us more about how AMA events provide opportunities for cultural enrichment and community-building.

AMA: What do people enjoy most about the Art+Wine series?

Matt: You mean aside from the wine (wink)? I think the Art+Wine attendees really enjoy the instruction of creating their own masterpiece. Most Art+Wine participants don’t paint on a regular basis, so it’s the perfect opportunity to learn how to create their own art pieces that they can hang in their home!

AMA: What is special about the long-standing partnership with Arlington Yoga Center?

Matt: Part of what I love about my job is the creation of new partnerships, but also maintaining partnerships we already cherish at the AMA. Our partnership with Arlington Yoga Center is so perfect, because art brings peace to so many minds. Being surrounded by art while enjoying yoga or a sound bath in our galleries is an added bonus. It creates a beautiful atmosphere while calming the mind.

AMA: What do you love most about the upcoming Clase Azul Tequila Tasting event?

Matt: My favorite thing about the upcoming Clase Azul Tequila Tasting is that it fits so well with our upcoming exhibit, José Guadalupe Posada: Legendary Printmaker of Mexico. This tequila is a well-respected tequila in Mexico because of its craftsmanship, but also because of its cultural traditions. To sip this tequila while enjoying the exhibition is sure to be a perfect fiesta!

AMA: What else would you like people to know about the upcoming events this Fall-Winter at the AMA?

Matt: I would really like people to know that tickets to our events include admission to the museum to see the exhibit. It’s a cool add-on we incorporate to our ticketed programming, like a double whammy for our visitors because they get to enjoy the exhibit along with the event or program!

AMA: What is an example of a new event or program that you forsee in new AMA location that can’t be done in the current building?

Matt: I see so many new opportunities, but I’m most excited about being able to offer programming and events that include our immersive exhibitions. One idea I’m excited about includes creating a partnership with an orchestra. That’s the only hint I will give! I’m also thrilled to have a space where we can offer member-exclusive events and programming. Our new membership program is available now, and new members will be treated to so many new programs in our new space!
