Every day we marvel at the incredible metalwork in our current exhibition, A Knight’s Tale. But we’ve been thinking a lot about the function of armor, too.
So on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, we invited our great friends at the Arlington Police Department to come by for a side-by-side comparison of today’s armor vs its origin story.
Just as we were setting up for our photo shoot, in walked two firemen from Arlington Fire Department to perform their monthly inspection of our building! As these first responders stood together for our cameras, we were filled with gratitude for this serendipitous gathering of modern day knights in shining armor.
It also gave us an idea.
Who’s your knight in shining armor?
What does it mean to be a modern-day knight in shining armor? We believe today’s Knight is someone who strives to makes the world a better place for others.
Let’s celebrate the knights in shining armor in our community! The Arlington Museum of Art wants to share your stories in recognition of a person who inspires you, leads by the example of kindness, and always seems to know when it’s time to lend a helping hand.
