Bring the whole family to a kid-friendly talk (and song!) about Medieval armor by Cheryl Mitchell, Assistant Professor in Practice and Collections Specialist at the University of Texas at Arlington.
After Cheryl’s talk, stay to meet Greg Tsouprake, a metal artisan who makes his own chainmail and armor! A regular at Renaissance Fairs, Greg will be wearing one of his suits of armor and will be happy to pose for photos and answer questions about what it means to be a chivalrous knight.
This event is free, but registration in advance is required to attend the talk. No walk-ins, please!
About Cheryl Mitchell
Cheryl’s love of art started with her parents, then grew as she earned her B. A. in Art History/Classics at UTA. She went on to receive her M.Litt. in History of Art and Art-World Practice through Christie’s Education of London via the University of Glasgow in 2010. She now teaches art history courses at UT Arlington, including a course in Medieval art. Cheryl is also the Collections Specialist of the UTA Fine Arts Collection Gallery.
Cheryl has been an incredible supporter of the Arlington Museum of Art. She started as a volunteer, then worked to coordinate and assist in hosting events and auctions. She praises the experience and opportunity of smaller community events in assisting her understanding of patronage and donor relations.
This presentation is suitable for all ages, and oriented to kids.
